Worlds among the Invisible City

By Wetnurse Guitarist Greg Kramer

Got it! That was your final flight, sucker! Total carnage. Ugh, what a mess. That thing was dogging me for the past half hour hovering and weaving like an incessant police helicopter. That's quite a bit of blood on my arm. My blood? Maybe Curran's blood. I thought if I killed this one, the room would be cleared and secured, but that's what I thought when Curran killed the last one. They just keep coming.

Damn, I'm hungry. How long have we been down here? Curran's got his notebook out. I've no idea what he's writing. Garett's tapping out a rhythm on his leg.

This concrete bunker is no shelter from airborne parasites. Where are they coming from? Probably that festering miasma we crossed on our way over here. When the wind is right you can smell it. They tried to build a supermarket there, but the ground wasn't stable. When they started digging the foundation, they found some underground waterway going to God knows where. And here we are holed up a few blocks away in the wizard's control chamber.

And where the hell is Gene? I thought he was going out to smoke. He's supposed to lay down his vocals. I hear a gutteral growl. The Beast got him! No, wait, he is the beast! He's in a cavern further underground. I can hear him through the monitors. Martin adjusts some dials and the beast grows larger.

There's a gash in the earth, and the beast's obscene voice gurgles from it instructing people to climb clock towers and hunt humans.

Martin is the wizard. A coffee fueled wizard, he strides over to the pot to pour himself another brew. His leather pants don't make a sound. Whatever creature died to make those pants, I'll bet it was not of this earth, and Martin killed it with his bare hands.

Herbie Hancock, John Zorn, Fab Five Freddy, Sonic Youth, Michael Gira, Bootsy Collins, Ginger Baker, Jarboe, Foetus, soldiers, avatars, past and future have phased through these walls. Séances moored in time and distilled by Martin's alchemical hand are displayed on the walls. Voices transfixed in amber, gates to other worlds. Worlds among the Invisible City.
